The creation of local Brisbane sisters Penny and Maria, The Joinery is a dynamic, warehouse-style function venue located in the bustling heart of West End’s iconic Montague Road. A place where people and ideas can merge as one, this flexible and customisable function and event space takes a family’s history, passion and flair for hospitality and melds it with a luxurious industrial-style backdrop, just minutes from Brisbane’s CBD.


The Joinery greets Brisbane’s West End streets with a stunning architecturally-designed white, metal lattice facade. Behind, lies an expansive converted warehouse space flooded in natural light and featuring sky-high ceilings, exposed brick walls and polished concrete floors. Raw finishes are perfectly complimented by contemporary accents, including seamless plywood joinery to which the venue owes its name, designer pendulum lighting and luxuriously appointed amenities.

The Joinery can accommodate up to 300 standing guests and has the capacity for a 200 person sit down event. Catering is supplied exclusively by established corporate and private catering company Chez Nous Corporate whose kitchen is nestled within the venue.

Designed to be a dynamic and free-form space, The Joinery welcomes complete event customisation, including furniture and styling, to suit your specific event needs and realise even the dreamiest of  visions.

With venue management, service staff and security included, and event styling, furniture hire, AV equipment and floristry all available through our talented team of preferred suppliers, there’s not a detail missed when choosing to hold your event in this stunning function and event space.

What sort of events and functions does The Joinery suit?

The Joinery is a dynamic and adaptable venue space, with the ability to transform from day to night and seamlessly between different function types. It is able to accommodate a host of events, including, but not limited to: corporate functions – conferences, business meetings, product launches, workshops, presentations, networking lunches and gala dinners;  private events – engagement parties, christening receptions, baby showers, kitchen teas and birthday parties; cocktail and sit-down weddings; and community events – exhibitions, markets, rehearsals, workshops, photoshoots, castings and classes.

What is the capacity of The Joinery?

The Joinery is a large and versatile space, accommodating up to 300 standing guests for cocktail style occasions and up to 200 guests for a sit down event.

Can I provide my own food or choice of caterer?

Our catering partner, Chez Nous Corporate, exclusively caters The Joinery and therefore you are unable to provide your own food or enlist an external caterer.

The Joinery team work hand-in-hand with Chez Nous Corporate’s expert team of chefs to create personally tailored menus to suit a diverse range of service options, culinary styles and budgets.

A special occasion cake is permitted however a cakeage fee does apply, at $3.30 (GST inclusive) per head. If the cake is required to be cut into portions and plated then a charge of $110 (GST inclusive) will apply.

Does The Joinery provide alcohol or is it BYO?

All alcoholic beverages are strictly BYO (Bring Your Own). The Joinery and our catering partner, Chez Nous Corporate, are not permitted to sell alcohol however, staff are all RSA certified and able to serve alcohol provided by the client.

Non-alcoholic beverages such as orange juice, still/sparkling water and standard mixers are provided by the venue and charged on a consumption basis. Other specialty non-alcoholic beverages are available upon request.

Will I be sharing the space with another function or event?

The Joinery is hired exclusively and only caters to one event at a time, unless previously specified or arranged.

Venue hire includes exclusive use of the complete venue including the main event space, integrated bar, enclosed terrace, courtyard and private green room overlooking the main venue space.
